Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a procedure to alter the size or shape of the labia of the vulva in women. Labiaplasty usually refers to the reduction or augmentation of the labia majora and labia minora.
1. Labiaplasty (Labia Reduction) - Vulvar Labia Reduction
Candidates for surgery
- In some women, the labia minora maybe more prominent, with the labia majora protruding to a greater or lesser degree.
- Sometimes both the labia minora and the labia majora are enlarged. This enlargement may be congenital, or it may develop with age or as a result of childbirth.
Some of these women are unhappy with the enlarged size of their labia minora, which may cause embarrassment with their sexual partner or discomfort when wearing tight pants, playing sports, or during intercourse.
The procedure involves removing the excess tissue and reducing it to a smaller size.
- In the case of the labia minora, adjust their size to fit within the labia majora.
- In the case of the labia majora, to achieve greater reduction, less tissue is removed.
