Laser treatments

The dermatological laser is an effective weapon in the therapy of some specific skin diseases. In its simplest form it is a light source, where radiant energy is in the form of photons and waves capable of producing special biological effects.

When handling the different laser frequencies for each treatment, it is essential to know and adequately understand its operation and how it acts on each tissue.

MMG LASER

Below we list some of the wave frequencies that we use to treat the skin of the face, neck and neckline and hands that allow us to rejuvenate and enhance the quality of the skin.

When to do the treatment

Because the skin treated with laser is hypersensitive to sun exposure, up to a year after some procedures, it is recommended to undergo the laser during the autumn or winter months, when daylight hours are shorter and he spends most of his time indoors. Naturally, if you spend the summer indoors, you could be a candidate for the laser, always applying a protection factor of 50SPF during the day.

Regardless of what time of year you have your laser procedure, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen every day on a regular basis.

It is advisable to tell your doctor if you have suffered from cold sores or if you take any medication, particularly anticoagulants or vitamin A derivatives such as Roaccutane. We will provide you with instructions to prepare your skin before treatment. This reduces the risk of complications from the laser.

Depends on the laser, the depth and area of treatment, and the individual’s tolerance for pain.

  • The deeper ablative laser treatments (where some of the outer layers of skin are removed) are usually the most uncomfortable, although they tend to be well tolerated with the application of our high-potency numbing cream. We also accompany the treatments with cold air that allows safer and painless laser treatments.
  • Nonablative laser treatments (in which the laser goes through the skin without removing the layers) cause little or no pain. After the procedure, some degree of tenderness in the treatment area can be expected.

If you have dark skin, you should be evaluated by your doctor prior to your treatment, darker skin is more at risk of depigmentation.

Ablative lasers require a recovery period that usually ranges from five to seven day.

Non ablative lasers allow faster recovery of the skin.

Recovery time therefore depends on the type of laser, the dose administered and your skin type. We usually regulate the recovery period according to the needs of each patient and can range from one day to one week for the most intense treatments.

Dr. García Ceballos will recommend a series of measures to take after your laser treatment. These will vary depending on the type of light or lights used.

For all of them, it is common to apply a sun protection factor of 50 SPF that will prevent your skin from becoming hyperpigmented.

Laser treatments in the summer season must be selected both in their dosage and in the type of light applied and type of patient.

Sessions

They depend on the type of problems to be treated.

  • Thus, for spot cleaning or wrinkle treatment, establish three sessions that allow us to treat the skin safely and effectively.
  • Although a minimum of sessions is established, it is important to assess the response of each individual 3 months after the end of the last session.
  • We usually prefer to postpone the following sessions until a year has passed, a period in which the skin will continue to improve.

Hybrid Treatments

We have a platform with 7 types of lasers. This allows us to establish the most effective treatments since we can treat all layers of the skin.

The effects on the tissues of the laser are immediate, although the positive stimulus on the skin lasts for several months. After completing your treatment, it is not necessary to repeat the treatment until after a year.
