Eyelid Surgery for Men in Mallorca
Eyelid surgery designed specifically for men. It removes bags and excess skin while preserving a masculine look—without over-opening or rounding the eyes—resulting in a natural, rested appearance that gives no hint of surgery. Performed by Dr. García Ceballos.
It is not “the same surgery” as in women
Blepharoplasty for men is not simply a scaled-down version of the procedure for women: it is a technically distinct surgery that must preserve specific anatomical features of the male eye. When the technique is not adapted to men, the result—although aesthetically correct in theory—feminizes the gaze, gives away the fact that surgery was performed, or creates a “surprised” look that compromises the natural appearance.
The characteristics of the male eyelid are distinct: the eyelid crease is lower and less arched, the eyebrow is lower and straighter, the outer corner slopes down slightly rather than rising, the skin is thicker, and the fat pads tend to be more prominent. All of these features must be taken into account. A well-performed male blepharoplasty is one that makes the patient look well-rested, not “operated on”—and neither his friends nor his coworkers notice what has changed.
Ideal candidates
Men, typically between the ages of 40 and 65, with excess upper eyelid skin (which may droop over the eyelashes), prominent lower eyelid bags, deep dark circles under the eyes, or a combination of these. It is one of the most practical surgical procedures for men: a minor, outpatient procedure with a quick recovery and a significant impact on professional and social perception.
Technical Mistakes Men Should Avoid
| Error | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Lift the outer edge | Softens the look |
| Excessive resection of the upper skin | Permanent “surprised” appearance |
| Aggressive removal of eye bags | Sunken, aged eyes |
| Raise an eyebrow | A feminine trait that gives away plastic surgery |
| Visible scarring | Visible preseptal scar in a male (thick skin shows more) |
The technique adapted for men
Conservative Upper Blepharoplasty
Careful removal of excess skin from the upper eyelid, preserving the male eyelid crease (which is lower than the female eyelid crease). The scar is hidden within the natural crease and is imperceptible once healed. This is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia with sedation.
Transconjunctival Lower Blepharoplasty
Access to the fat pads of the lower eyelid through the conjunctiva (inside the eye), leaving no visible external scar. Removes the lower “bag” without affecting the external anatomy. Recommended for most male patients.
Infracanala Lipofilling
When there are deep under-eye circles (pronounced tear troughs) caused by a lack of fat, blepharoplasty is supplemented with lipofilling of the area to restore volume and smooth the transition between the eye and cheek. The result is a more “rested” appearance.
Blepharoplasty + Mini Temporal Facelift
When a man's eyebrow has dropped significantly with aging, blepharoplasty can be combined with a minor temporal lift to reposition the eyebrow. This is done carefully to avoid lifting it excessively (which can result in a feminine appearance).
Dr. García Ceballos’s approach to male blepharoplasty focuses on a conservative, non-aggressive technique. The most common mistakes in male patients stem from applying techniques designed for women or removing too much tissue. We prefer a natural-looking result that can be refined with a second procedure if necessary, rather than an excessive, irreversible outcome.
Week by Week After Blepharoplasty
- D1-3
Local cold, head up
Discharged the same day. Intermittent local coldness for the first 2 days. Sleep with head elevated. Moderate bruising and a feeling of tightness in the eyelids. No significant pain.
- D5-7
Removal of sutures
Sutures are removed on days 5–7. Bruises begin to change color from purple to greenish-yellow. The patient may begin to cover them with concealer if desired.
- D7-10
Return to Work
Return to work; any residual bruising can be concealed with light makeup or glasses. International patients may return to their home country at this time.
- S3-4
Progressive Active Life
Resume light exercise after 3–4 weeks. The upper scar is barely noticeable once it has healed.
- M3-6
Stable result
Stable result. The scar has fully healed and is imperceptible in the eyelid crease.
