01 - What is a facelift

Restore facial anatomy, not stretch the skin

A modern facelift does not involve tightening the skin; rather, it involves repositioning the deep facial structures—the SMAS-platysma complex, the facial fat compartments, the mandibular rim, and the cervico-mental angle—while preserving natural facial expression. When done properly, the result is rejuvenation without a “surgery-like” appearance.

Dr. García Ceballos performs facelifts at Quirónsalud Palmaplanas Hospital and Quirónsalud Son Verí Hospital. He has 25 years of experience and has received training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS I) and in Belgium (FCCP).

Ideal candidates

Patients are typically between 45 and 70 years old with skin laxity, jowls (mandibular “double chin”), loss of facial contour definition, deep nasolabial folds, and platysmal bands on the neck. Good overall health, being a nonsmoker, and realistic expectations are essential. Younger patients with early signs of aging may benefit from a mini-facelift.

02 — Facelift Techniques

A technique for every face

The choice depends on the type and degree of aging, the patient's anatomical characteristics, and the patient's goals. Dr. García Ceballos performs all current types of facelifts:

Neck and Face Lift

Full face and neck lift. Treats jowls, midface laxity, nasolabial folds, and neck bands. A well-established technique with consistent long-term results.

Mini Facelift

Minimally invasive facelift for early signs of facial aging. Faster recovery and subtle improvement in the lower third of the face. Suitable for patients aged 40–50.

Eyebrow lift

It lifts the forehead and eyebrows, opening up the eyes. It can be combined with upper blepharoplasty when indicated.

Upper lip lift

Reduces the distance between the nose and the lip, restoring youthful proportions. A subtle yet highly effective procedure for upper lips that have become elongated due to age or natural build.

Combined procedures

A facelift is often combined with blepharoplasty, a brow lift, a lip lift, or facial lipofilling in a single surgical procedure. This optimizes recovery and produces a harmonious, comprehensive result.

03 - Recovery

Week by Week After a Facelift

  • D1-3

    Rest with a compression bandage

Discharged from the hospital on day 1. Compression dressing for 48–72 hours. Pain controlled with oral analgesics. Cold compresses recommended.

  • D7-10

    Removal of sutures

Sutures were removed on October 7. Bruising is subsiding. The patient may now see close family members but should not yet participate in social activities.

  • S2-3

    Social Reintegration

Most bruises have resolved. Makeup can cover any residual discoloration. International patients usually return to their home country around day 14.

  • S6-8

    Progressive Sports

Gradual return to sports. Strict sun protection for scars.

  • M3-12

    Final result

The scars fully heal. The facial contours settle after 3–6 months. The results last 10–15 years, depending on the technique and the individual.

FAQ - Facelift in Mallorca

A facelift technique that releases the deep retaining ligaments of the midface and repositions the SMAS-platysma complex as a single unit. It produces the most natural-looking midface rejuvenation and the greatest long-term durability.
A deep neck lift performed via a posterior approach, leaving no scars on the front of the neck. Particularly suitable for patients with pronounced platysmal bands who require imperceptible scars.
It depends on the technique and individual factors: mini-facelift 5–7 years, cervicofacial facelift 10–12 years, Deep Plane facelift 10–15 years. Aging continues at its normal rate, but from a younger starting point.
The final quote is provided following an individualized medical evaluation. The initial consultation costs 40 €. Second opinions for patients who underwent surgery outside of Mallorca Medical Group cost 120 €. We do not offer financing.
When a facelift is performed correctly, there is no “operated” appearance or artificially taut skin. The goal is to restore the underlying anatomy and preserve natural facial expressions, not to stretch the skin.
Yes, quite often. A facelift is often combined with blepharoplasty, a brow lift, a lip lift, or facial lipofilling during the same surgical procedure, which helps speed up recovery.
International patients typically stay 10–14 days after surgery before returning home. Some prefer to stay 14–21 days to ensure a full return to their social lives. A pre-visit video consultation is available to help you prepare for your visit.
