A double chin (submental fat accumulation) is one of the facial features that most adds to a person’s apparent age and compromises the definition of the cervico-mental angle—the transition between the face and the neck that is key to a youthful profile. Double chin liposuction removes the fat from the submental compartment and restores that transition.
It is a relatively simple outpatient procedure when the skin has good elasticity. In patients with very loose neck skin (typically those over 55–60 years of age), a neck lift may be required in conjunction with the procedure to prevent excess skin after liposuction.
Ideal candidates
Patients with submental fat accumulation, stable weight, good cervical skin elasticity, and between the ages of 25 and 55. Younger patients with a hereditary double chin (not caused by excess weight) are excellent candidates. In older patients with very lax cervical skin, a cervicofacial lift is indicated.

A technique for every situation
Classic Submental Liposuction
A 3-mm submental microincision, tumescent infiltration, and aspiration using fine cannulas. Standard indication for patients with good skin elasticity and isolated submental fat accumulation.
Submental Liposuction + VASER
Combine it with VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction, which improves skin retraction and is particularly useful in patients with neck skin of moderate elasticity.
Double Chin Liposuction + Morpheus8 / Radiofrequency
It combines liposuction with microneedle radiofrequency technology to enhance skin tightening. Follow-up sessions are held in the office after surgery.
Neck lift (not liposuction)
When there is very loose neck skin or pronounced platysmal bands, the appropriate procedure is NOT liposuction but a cervicofacial lift. If liposuction is performed alone on poorly selected patients, excess skin remains.
The success of double chin liposuction depends entirely on the indication. Fat accumulation with elastic skin is the ideal scenario; significant neck laxity requires a facelift, not liposuction.
