01 — What Is Vaginoplasty?

Surgery with a clear functional indication

Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that restores the tone of the vaginal canal by repairing the perineal muscles and the vaginal mucosa. The most common indication is postpartum laxity—especially in women who have had multiple vaginal deliveries or instrumental deliveries—as well as laxity associated with natural aging.

Unlike nonsurgical procedures (laser, radiofrequency), vaginoplasty offers a permanent and predictable result. Its purpose is clearly functional: improved muscle tone, enhanced sensation during sexual intercourse, and relief from discomforts such as the sensation of “vaginal air” or difficulty retaining tampons.

Ideal Candidates

Women over the age of 25 with documented vaginal laxity (usually postpartum, especially after multiple vaginal deliveries or instrumental deliveries), who have already made a decision regarding childbearing (surgery before future deliveries is not recommended), are in good health, and have realistic expectations. Consultations are always confidential.

Intravaginal RadiofrequencyCollagen stimulationModerate, non-surgical, requires repeat treatments

02 — Therapeutic Approach

Surgery as part of a comprehensive program

Associated perineoplasty

When the laxity involves the perineum (perineal region), a perineoplasty is performed to reconstruct the perineal muscles, complementing the vaginoplasty.

Coordination with the Department of Gynecology

If there are genital prolapses, urinary incontinence, or other gynecological conditions, we coordinate treatment with the gynecology department to address them either simultaneously or sequentially.

Non-surgical alternatives

For mild to moderate laxity or for patients who do not wish to undergo surgery, we offer intravaginal fractional CO2 laser treatment or radiofrequency as alternatives, which provide moderate results but require no recovery time.

Important: Future Pregnancies

Vaginoplasty is not compatible with future vaginal deliveries. If future pregnancies are planned, it is recommended to postpone the surgery until you no longer wish to become pregnant. The doctor always evaluates this issue before recommending surgery.
