Eyelid Surgery: 5 Ways to Transform the Look and Rejuvenate your Eyes

Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure designed to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes and correct problems such as eye bags and drooping eyelids. This surgery has become a popular option for those who wish to revitalize their look and eliminate signs of aging in this facial area.

Suitable Blepharoplasty Patients

The most suitable patients for blepharoplasty blepharoplasty are those who have visible signs of aging in the eyelids. eyelids upper and lower. Signs include excess skin on the eyelids, the formation of bags under the eyes, and sagging of the upper eyelids. The ideal candidates are people in good health and who do not have medical conditions that could complicate the surgery. In addition, they should have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery.

5 Types of blepharoplasty

The blepharoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure and the patient’s preferences. The surgeon makes strategic incisions in the eyelids, which are placed in natural creases or at the edge of the eyelids to minimize visible scarring.

There are two main types of blepharoplasty:

Upper Blepharoplasty Focused on correcting drooping upper eyelids or excess skin.

Lower Blepharoplasty Aimed at eliminating fat bags and excess skin in the lower eyelids.

In some cases, a transconjunctival transconjunctival blepharoplasty involves making incisions inside the lower eyelid, leaving no external scars.

Below we explain 5 types of blepharoplasty:

  1. Upper Blepharoplasty: Performed on the upper eyelids to correct excess skin and fat and improve the appearance of the eyes.

  1. Lower Blepharoplasty: Performed on the lower eyelids to remove excess skin and fat, reduce bags under the eyes, and rejuvenate facial appearance.

  1. Complete Blepharoplasty: known as four-eyelid blepharoplasty, it is performed on both upper and lower eyelids to correct problems of excess skin, fat, and bags in both eyes.

  1. Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty: This type of blepharoplasty is performed without visible incisions in the skin. Instead, it is performed through the inside of the eyelid, allowing fat removal and correction of eye bags.

  1. Asian Blepharoplasty: A specialized type of blepharoplasty performed on patients of Asian descent to create an upper eyelid crease and improve eye definition.

The Postoperative Period

After blepharoplasty blepharoplasty the area is treated, and it is common to experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treated area. Patients should follow their plastic surgeon’s recommendations, which may include the use of cold compresses and elevating the head when sleeping to reduce swelling. Most people can return to normal activities within a few weeks.

Expected Results

Blepharoplasty can achieve remarkable results. Patients can expect a fresher, more youthful appearance in the eye area. Eyelids appear firmer, bags disappear and drooping eyelids are corrected. The results are usually long-lasting, although the aging process continues over time.

Potential Complications:

While blepharoplasty is generally safe, as with any surgery, there are potential risks, which may include: infection, hematoma, visible scarring, asymmetry, temporary ocular dryness,

healing problems.

It is crucial to discuss these risks and concerns with your plastic surgeon prior to surgery and follow all post-operative instructions to minimize any risks.

Blepharoplasty is an effective procedure to rejuvenate the eyes and improve self-confidence. MMG BLEPHAROPLASTY

Individually designed for each patient

Blepharoplasty is individually designed for each patient, depending on their particular needs.

It can be performed alone for the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both, or in combination with other surgical procedures on the eyes, face, eyebrows or nose.

Eyelid surgery cannot stop the aging process, but it can, however, diminish the appearance of sagging skin and bags in the eyelid region.

Upper eyelid surgery

The passage of time can cause the upper eyelids to droop over the eye. This can give a tired appearance as well as being uncomfortable to look at and can cause a feeling of heaviness.

The result of this procedure, which is usually performed under local anesthesia, gives you an immediate open look, making the “tired look” fade or disappear.

Treatment in mild cases can be carried out by the application of botulinum toxin in combination with a laser. In cases where the skin is more reddened, its treatment is surgical and is called blepharoplasty.

Intervention

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes for each eye.

Postoperative

It is common for purple eyes to appear for a week to a greater or lesser extent. The scar heals slowly and over time may become very inconspicuous. The stitches go inside the skin and are removed within a week. During this first week, it is recommended to wear sunglasses when going outdoors. Before deciding to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them openly with your plastic surgeon.

MMG BLEPHAROPLASTY
Lower eyelid surgery

Generally, there are two problems that can be solved by lower blepharoplasty: eye bags without excess skin and eye bags with excess skin.

“It gives me the impression of looking tired” is the most common phrase of patients requiring lower eyelid correction.

Intervention

The operation is called lower blepharoplasty and can be performed without any visible scar (transconjunctival) and, in some cases, through an incision under the eyelashes of the lower eyelid.

If the amount of existing skin is adequate and there is only a bulge or eye bags, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty may be indicated, i.e. without a visible scar on the outside.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia to prevent undesirable movements of the patient’s head during the procedure and to provide more comfort.

If there is excess skin on the lower eyelid, as well as a bulge or bags, the incision should be made on the outside just below the eyelashes.

Sometimes the lowering of the cheek (middle third of the face) can cause this effect in which case the best method is to elevate the cheek.

Eyelid surgery is called blepharoplasty and can be upper eyelid or upper blepharoplasty and lower eyelid or lower blepharoplasty.

In upper blepharoplasty, the most frequent complication is bleeding. This complication of surgery is solved by closing the bleeding vessel. Excess skin resection is less frequent.

In the lower eyelid, complications include bleeding and compression of the optic nerve if this bleeding is not stopped in time. It is therefore necessary to closely monitor the patient in the postoperative period and to have the procedure performed by expert hands.

Another complication that can occur is ectropion due to excess resection and lack of lower eyelid support.

The physician with specialized training to perform upper and lower blepharoplasty is the plastic surgeon.
